Meeting on Patents and Environmentally Sound Technologies

On behalf of UNEP, the European Patent Office (EPO) and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), a meeting is being organized on patents and environmentally sound technologies and will take place this Friday, 8 May 2009. The impact of patents on technology transfer is receiving increased attention in the post-2012 climate negotiations, and UNEP, EPO and ICTSD have partnered to launch a study examining this relationship in greater detail.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss some of the preliminary findings of the study and, more importantly, to discuss industry involvement in the study going forward.
