meeting, 23 October 2000
Description:
UNEP will co-host along with the German Federal Ministry for Environment,
Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), a ministerial meeting
on environment, sustainable development, and trade.
Environment ministers and their senior officials have been invited
to participate during the ministerial segment of the meeting.
Main objectives of the Ministerial Meeting:
- Provide a platform for environment ministers and senior officials
from developed and developing countries, intergovernmental organisations
and non-governmental organisations to discuss areas of mutual concern
in the environment, development and trade debate.
- Enhance awareness on trade and environment linkages and implications
for sustainable development.
- Propose suggested action to promote synergies and mutual supportiveness
of the trade and environment regimes.
